Vattenfall, among Europe’s largest large energy producers, is one of the most dynamic wind energy companies in the UK. By 2017 it will operate in the UK almost 1GW of onshore and offshore capacity. It also has a significant pipeline of projects.

Vattenfall has been producing power and heat for over 100 years. Owned 100% by the Swedish State it broke into the UK market in late 2008 following the acquisition of a number of wind energy businesses and assets. Vattenfall has committed to grow its renewables business faster than the markets in which it operates and drive down carbon emissions from its operations.

Overall purpose of the role

We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Advisor to play a prominent role in Vattenfall’s UK Public & Regulatory Affairs and Stakeholders team. Through our political and regulatory activities in the UK, we support the commercial and strategic interests of Vattenfall in the UK and across Europe. These interests are currently mainly related to wind development and trade activities although new business opportunities are being explored. Our main tasks are to identify political and regulatory issues and trends, assess value at stake, develop Vattenfall positions, prepare strategies, and engage with all key regulatory and political stakeholders. Political and stakeholder engagement will be led by the Stakeholder Relations Adviser.

Your job as a Regulatory Affairs Advisor

  • Monitor and identify regulatory issues, assess value at stake, develop Vattenfall’s position, prepare strategies, coordinate and implement activities;
  • Prepare and engage with national and regional stakeholders (incl. Wales, Scotland);
  • Develop and maintain relations with regulatory stakeholders, policy makers and associations;
  • Represent Vattenfall in industry organisations;
  • Closely work with (senior) management and business colleagues, give advice on regulatory and political developments;
  • Promote knowledge sharing across Vattenfall of UK regulatory issues.

Your profile as a Regulatory Affairs Advisor

  • University degree in economics, industrial engineering and business administration, political and social science, law or similar field;
  • Excellent energy market knowledge and / or practical experience in regulatory affairs and policy management;
  • Combine strong analytical capacity with commercial thinking;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with different stakeholders;
  • Solid experience from working in an international environment;
  • Strong drive to get information, listen, analyse and use your knowledge to influence;
  • Hands-on – create, produce and deliver autonomously within a given framework.

Location

The location of the position is within the UK at any of our London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Hexham or Penzance offices. The successful applicant will be required to travel in UK and abroad.
