Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

My client, a consumer focused organisation that is already very influential and a key voice in Westminster, looking for a new member of staff to deliver an existing and also further develop their public affairs agenda in Scotland. To ensure they are influential in Hollyrood by significantly enhancing engagement with senior decision makers and ensuring that we are able to respond to key debates in Scotland on consumer issues.

Developing and delivering our public affairs agenda in Scotland including:

  • As part of the Scotland Public Affairs strategy, positioning them as a key voice of the UK in Scotland agreeing relationship management principles and lead contacts;
  • Shaping Scottish government thinking on new regulatory landscape;
  • Identifying immediate and longer term proposals from the Scottish Government and other key Scottish bodies that will impact on consumers and corporate interests;
  • Ensuring that key opinion formers in Scotland are influenced by the organisation, responses to their proposals and longer term policy agendas;
  • Identifying opportunities with Campaigns to drive forward our change agenda in Scotland;
  • Developing and delivering high level rolling engagement programme with key opinion formers for the senior representatives with Scottish Government Ministers, officials, MSPs and other key stakeholders through extensive mapping of key-opinion formers in Scotland;
  • Working with Campaigns and Policy teams to identify opportunities for engagement building network of contacts across departments especially in these areas;
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of the whole of the business to ensure that the Scotland PA activity is underpinned by campaigning, editorial activity and products and services.

The ideal candidate will be well established and networked and confident in their stand-alone ability to proactively engage with key external stakeholders to build the reputation of the organisation to key opinion formers in the Scottish Government. You will be experienced in managing and delivering a Public Affairs strategy and managing budget and colleagues accordingly.
