Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We are seeking a Public Affairs Manager to enhance awareness of the Motability Foundation among key stakeholders during a time of positive change.

Our vision is to fund, support, research, and innovate so all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. You will work closely with our Evidence and Policy Manager, internal teams, and partners, including Motability Operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitoring the political landscape and advising on policy opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing a Public Affairs and Government Engagement Strategy.
  • Managing our public affairs agency.
  • Providing political intelligence, insight, and briefings for stakeholders.
  • Establishing policy positions and achieving influencing objectives.
  • Building expertise in areas such as public transport, wheelchairs, and active travel.

With welfare reform on the horizon, experience in post-election public affairs strategies is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver public affairs strategies aligned with Motability’s vision.
  • Build relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers, and stakeholders across Westminster and the devolved nations.
  • Monitor political developments relevant to the Foundation’s work.
  • Manage a program of parliamentary engagement, facilitating dialogue on disability and transport issues.
  • Collaborate with the Evidence and Policy Manager to shape and present policy outputs.

About You

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of parliamentary processes in the UK and devolved nations;
  • Proven ability to initiate and manage projects independently;
  • Skilled in identifying influencing opportunities and simplifying complex issues for diverse audiences;
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders in government, industry, and the charity sector;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

Knowledge of disability and transport issues, such as inclusive mobility or EV transitions.

Extra information

The role is based in Harlow, Essex, at Motability’s offices. They are easily commutable from London, just 30 minutes from Liverpool Street station or 18 minutes from Tottenham Hale station. There is a free minibus which brings staff from Harlow Town station to the office at specific times each day.

We offer blended working within this role – with two days a week in the office or at key stakeholder meetings externally required.
