At Oasis, we believe that every young person deserves the very best start in life, and the chance to succeed regardless of their background or postcode. A great education is key to this, but schools can only do so much alone. Impactful change comes when schools work in close partnership with its community, and with other local services and partners including housing, youth and children’s services, advice and support services, church, and other civic institutions. Driving change beyond the school gates is the best way of ensuring change inside the classroom, and vice-versa, which is why community transformation is at the heart of the Oasis way.

We want every one of the 31,000 young people in our 53 schools to leave with strong results, and with the grade passports they need to go on to further study or into meaningful work. Everything we do works towards that goal.

The Press & PR Manager role is brand new, within a recently re-focused communications directorate, which means that you will be able to make your mark, and quickly. Working closely with colleagues across Oasis, you will develop and deliver our press strategy, and you will provide advice, guidance, support and challenge to senior leaders nationally and across our academies – especially in times of difficulty.

We are looking for a storyteller with strong writing skills, who is confident pitching stories. You will work with senior national leaders and staff across our schools to proactively seek out stories that drive forward our mission, and you will place them in national, sector and local press. You will think of new and innovative ways of building platforms for our remarkable people and make sure that Oasis is at the centre of the big education conversations.

You will also be our first point of contact for national and sector journalists, making sure that all requests are handled professionally and in a timely manner, especially during times of difficulty.

We are fast paced team within an organisation that prides itself on being bold and brave in pursuit of our mission. You will work with brilliant colleagues, be offered regular training and development opportunities and be empowered to really take ownership of Oasis’s press and PR work.
