Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

The Health Foundation is an independent charity committed to bringing about better health and health care for people in the UK.

Health is never far from the headlines. We are looking for an External Affairs Officer to help us continue to secure high-profile media coverage, with a focus on proactively contacting journalists to pitch stories, managing media bids, and working closely with colleagues to ensure press activity sits with wider communications plans.

To be successful in the role of External Affairs Officer, you will have:

  • significant experience working within a fast-paced and influential press office, including managing multiple reactive media requests at one time and a record of proactively securing top-tier coverage (essential);
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills - capable of writing high-quality releases, statements, comments, briefings, and other written materials (essential);
  • evidence of building strong relationships with senior internal and external colleagues (essential);
  • experience of strategic working with other communications disciplines, especially public affairs (highly desirable);
  • experience in health and/or social affairs (highly desirable).

12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension.

Full-time role and hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in our London office. Flexible working requests will be considered).
