As the External Affairs Assistant, you will play an important role in helping to manage the reputation of National Highways. You will support the delivery of effective stakeholder engagement activities to build support and advocacy for our work with influential stakeholders.

This role will be based in from any of our National Highways offices.
What you’ll be leading on:
- Supporting the overall delivery of stakeholder engagement activities through the provision of well-researched and high-quality written briefings, reports, correspondence and other materials;
- Coordinating stakeholder engagement evaluation activity and regular internal reporting on the effectiveness of the External Affairs programme and network of relationships;
- Supporting the delivery and logistics of stakeholder engagement events, including parliamentary surgeries, roundtables and receptions;
- Managing parliamentary and stakeholder monitoring services and activity, sharing actionable intelligence within the External Affairs team;
- Championing best practice and common engagement principles to improve the quality of stakeholder engagement across National Highways;
- Ensuring that External Affairs activity is visible to the wider Communications group, feeding into the gridding and planning process and by representing the team at relevant internal meetings.
To be successful:
- Have some experience or interest in External Affairs, Public Affairs, Government Relations and/or strategic stakeholder engagement;
- Be an organised and flexible team player, with a proactive approach to delivering good outcomes, along with an attention to detail;
- Be comfortable working under pressure and to tight and sometimes changing deadlines, with an ability to manage complex issues;
- Be able to work with high levels of autonomy, with the energy and drive to make things happen.
