YIMBY Alliance is the UK’s leading pro-housing campaign group, campaigning for policies to end the housing crisis and make housing more affordable by building more homes. We advocate for a better planning system to deliver more homes in areas where they are most acutely needed.

About the role

We’re looking to expand our grassroots work: reaching out to volunteers and helping them organise for more homes in their communities. You would work to recruit group leads in key cities and support them to grow their organisations. You would also help lead our expanded programme of events, helping with logistics and content.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who’s passionate about tackling the housing crisis, politically aware, highly organised, a self-starter and wants to play a key role in solving the UK’s most pressing policy challenges.

We value a diverse workplace and strongly encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Recruit, motivate and manage volunteers;
  • Support and grow local YIMBY groups;
  • Design and deliver resources and training for local groups;
  • Update and maintain our volunteer list;
  • Help organise events for YIMBY Alliance and associated local campaigns;
  • Produce our weekly newsletter;
  • Write updates on UK housing policy for our blog.

Your role will include helping with other aspects of campaign organisation, logistics and administration as necessary, including attending conferences and events around the UK.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Self-starting and happy to take the initiative and drive our mission forward;
  • Highly organised and able to juggle multiple responsibilities;
  • Politically aware;  a knowledge of UK centre-left politics is highly desirable;
  • Friendly and confident when meeting and working with volunteers.

Desirable experience

  • Highly desirable: leading groups of volunteers and on the ground campaigning, including in a local political party or university society;
  • Producing content for social media, especially Tiktok, X (Twitter) and Bluesky;
  • Experience in campaigning organisations such as trade unions or charities;
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar);
  • Mailchimp and WordPress.

Length of Contract: 12 month initial contract with opportunity for extension.

Hours: Full-time, open to part time for the right candidate.

Hybrid working policy: Hybrid; minimum 3 days per week in our office in Westminster.
