We are looking for a talented, ambitious and driven Account Executive to support our Local Government and stakeholder engagement team. This position is perfect for someone who is interested in progressing their career in public affairs and public relations within a growing consultancy, working across a wide range of sectors.

The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the UK political and media landscape, including a specific interest and experience in many or all of the following: the built environment, planning system, local government, property, development, local government, local politics stakeholder and community engagement.

The role will involve a focus on the development and delivery of local government, stakeholder and community engagement. The majority of the engagement work will be related to planning applications. The successful candidate is also likely to work on some estate regeneration engagement projects and on stakeholder engagement for regulated industries.

Duties/responsibilities

  • Support on the development, management and execution of multiple stakeholder, community and political engagement programmes on planning applications for clients;
  • Planning and undertaking engagement with local government representatives;
  • Attendance at public exhibition events and various meetings with key political stakeholders, i.e. ward councillors, local authority portfolio holders, parish/town councils and constituency MPs;
  • Outreach engagement with local residents;
  • Drafting releases and statements for the media, typically in relation to local stakeholder engagement events and planning applications.

Skills & Experience

  • An understanding of the political system, at a national and local level;
  • Experience in a PA / PR / Communications consultancy or in-house environment is essential;
  • A specific interest and experience in the planning system, property and development issues, local politics and community engagement;
  • Strong understanding and experience of digital communications and social media;
  • Able to travel to and attend in person community and stakeholder engagement events, community outreach and stakeholder meetings throughout the UK.
