Following a competitive five-way pitch process, Westminster Advisers has been appointed by Ombudsman Services to provide strategic public affairs support.
The award-winning specialist public affairs consultancy was appointed as a result of its experience across consumer affairs policy as well as its expertise in sectors of importance to Ombudsman Services including energy, transport and telecoms.
Ombudsman Services is one of the largest providers of alternative dispute resolution in the UK, and provides consumers with fast and effective access to redress across numerous industries. Founded in 2002, they successfully resolved 20,000 complaints in 2012/13 alone.
Cost-of-living issues and changes to the consumer landscape, brought about by the Consumer Rights Bill, have risen up the political agenda in recent times. Westminster Advisers will be providing Ombudsman Services with strategic advice regarding the changing political environment as well as working to demonstrate the benefits of ombudsmen schemes to consumers, businesses and, ultimately, the government.
Dominic Church, Managing Director of Westminster Advisers, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to work with Ombudsman Services. The issue of living standards is likely to be key in the run-up to the general election, and we are very pleased to be helping to raise the matter of consumer redress with a broad range of policymakers.”
