Barely a week passes without an MP announcing they are calling time on their parliamentary career. To date, over 50 MPs have announced that they will retire at the 2015 General Election.

Insight Public Affairs have published a guide to those retiring, as well as information on 37 candidates selected in constituencies currently held by their party.

In his introduction, John Lehal (Managing Director) offers the following insight: “Twelve months from now, we expect at least 100 new MPs – constituency campaigners, heavily engaged with their constituents via a diet of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The genesis of this guide was our interest in unearthing the next generation of Parliamentarians who will make up the political elite of tomorrow. Without exception, the 37 PPCs selected to defend their party-held seats are fascinating people: to be selected for a “safe seat” requires effective communicators with a sharp intellect. Some are already firmly established as local authority leaders whilst others have a background in business or the trade union movement. Some such as Nusrat Ghani, Lucy Frazer and Vikki Slade are relatively new to politics, others such as Kate Hollern and Marie Rimmer have over 20 years of political experience behind them.”
