NorthPoint Strategy has launched as a strategic communications firm specialising in public affairs and business advisory. It will focus on heavily regulated, dynamic, and disruptive sectors, from emerging technologies to energy.
Chaired by Lord Wharton of Yarm, the Chair of the Office for Students and a former Government Minister who is best known for running Boris Johnson’s campaign to become Prime Minister in 2019, NorthPoint Strategy combines extensive experience in both the public and private sectors to help clients navigate the complexities of Whitehall and Westminster.
Simon Jennings, who founded the UK Cryptoasset Business Council, which represents the likes of Kraken Coinbase, and is a frequent panellist and media commentator on the crypto-economy serves as the Managing Director. James North and Will Riley-Smith, former senior political aides, both Directors at the firm, bring experience in advocacy for blue-chip firms and sovereign governments, respectively.
NorthPoint Strategy boasts an industry-leading advisory board that will provide insight, expertise, and strategic guidance to NorthPoint’s clients and leadership team. This includes Peter Welch, founding partner of investment bank, Singer Capital Markets, Claire Cummings, founder of a leading City law firm, Cummings Pepperdine, and Alex Royle, formerly of the FCA and ESMA, who now heads up compliance and regulatory affairs for Galaxy Digital, the multi-billion-pound technology-driven financial services and investment management.
“We are excited to launch NorthPoint Strategy and bring our combined experience to bear on behalf of our clients,” said Simon Jennings, Managing Director of NorthPoint Strategy. “Navigating complex regulatory environments and advocating for change is increasingly challenging in today's environment. We believe the experience of our team combined with our commitment to maintaining the highest level of integrity and professionalism, will position us as the leading strategic advisory firm in heavily regulated industries. As the digital assets, Web3, AI, and blockchain markets continue to expand and mature, we are poised to lead the way."
Lord Wharton of Yarm added: “Simon and the team have extensive strategic consultancy experience and have also held roles advising Government Ministers across multiple departments. They have a unique understanding of the relationship between high growth, highly regulated businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders. I look forward to seeing the impact that can be made by the ambitious, entrepreneurial team and the experienced advisory board.”
