The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) has appointed Tamora Langley as its new Head of Policy, Media and Public Affairs. Langley was previously Director of Communications at the British Lung Foundation. Before that she was Head of Healthcare Public Affairs at global PR firm Weber Shandwick. Langley took up the post at the RCS on the 1st April.
Andrew Reed, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Surgeons, said:
“Tamora joins us at a critical time of change for the RCS. She will lead communications of the redevelopment of our historic Lincoln’s Inn building and the Hunterian Museum. Her extensive campaigning and public affairs experience will come in useful as we challenge misguided commissioning decisions which unreasonably limit patients’ access to proven surgical procedures.”
Of her appointment, Tamora Langley said:
“Last year the surgical team at King’s College Hospital fixed my husband’s broken neck with breath-taking skill. Having seen first-hand the transformative effect of surgery, it’s a privilege to join the RCS team. It’s a fascinating time too, as technology like robotics and genomics are transforming surgery, raising new ethical and regulatory challenges for policy-makers.”
