The Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP) is a trade union and professional association for educational psychologists (EPs) in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Our membership is made up of EPs employed in local authorities and in the private sector - as well as self-employed, assistant and trainee EPs.

We are currently reviewing our contract for public and parliamentary affairs and media support and are inviting companies to bid for its continuation.

The main goal of this contract is to elevate the profile of educational psychologists, and the vital services provided by this group of highly trained professionals.

The objectives are:

  • To advocate for increased investment in public bodies such as local authorities that offer educational psychology services to education, health, social care, and community settings;
  • To tackle the challenges of workload and the recruitment and retention crises throughout the UK;
  • To ensure that commitments from central/devolved governments for funding the initial training of educational psychologists (presently available in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland) are maintained and to secure a similar commitment from the Scottish government;
  • To facilitate communication with key policymakers within central, devolved and local governments to support the AEP's campaign objectives;
  • To promote the wellbeing of children and young people, their families, and those who work with them across the UK;
  • To work to enhance the professional development, job satisfaction, and wellbeing of our members.

Additionally, this work aims to boost the AEP’s visibility, showcasing our activities and achievements to grow and maintain our significant membership base.
