The next PRCA - PoliMonitor Public Affairs Awards will have a new category to celebrate female talent in the industry.
This development follows data published over the past four years collected by WiPA’s annual surveys which has consistently shown that the public affairs industry has a long way to go to embrace diversity and inclusion at all levels.
To help encourage applications this new category will be free to enter. The PRCA - PoliMonitor UK Public Affairs Awards will also be moving from their usual spot in December to February the 1st 2024 and aim to have the highest ever attendees join them at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.
Headline sponsor PoliMonitor CEO Sam Cunningham MPRCA said:
"We want these Awards to recognise and celebrate the breadth of talent out there, not least the women working in the industry which the data shows aren’t equally represented in leadership positions. I hope this new award helps shine a light on the issue.”
Commenting, Co-Chairs of Women in Public Affairs (WiPA), Melanie Fernandes and Anne Mirkovic said:
"As in most industries, women are under-represented as senior leaders within the world of public affairs. There are some incredibly successful and inspirational women who have made it to the top, but many more aspire to get there and struggle to achieve it due to systemic barriers in the workplace".
"For the past four years, WiPA’s annual surveys with Opinium have consistently shown that the public affairs industry has a long way to go to embrace diversity and inclusion at all levels. We welcome the PRCA and PoliMonitor introducing this new award which looks to celebrate the amazing female talent which could and should be leading the industry in years to come".
