Political Lobbying and Media Relations (PLMR) Ltd has confirmed the appointment of Professor Tim Morris to Non-Executive Director, in a move to strengthen the agency’s existing credentials in food, agriculture, rural affairs and animal health and welfare.
Professor Morris joins Kevin Craig (Managing Director), Elin Twigge (Deputy Managing Director) and fellow Directors Valerie Burgess and Chivonne Preston on the PLMR board. He arrives at PLMR with a wealth of relevant experience, having qualified and practiced as a veterinary surgeon before obtaining a PhD from the University of London and spending 20 years working in medicines research and then public affairs at GlaxoSmithKline.
Most recently, Professor Morris established and led the British Horseracing Authority’s medication and anti-doping programme and animal welfare strategy.
Elin Twigge, Deputy Managing Director of PLMR said: “This is such an exciting time for PLMR. Professor Morris is highly respected both by the PLMR team and his industry peers and we know his knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to our clients both now and in the future. Tim is that rare thing – a vet who also understands communications and we are delighted to be working with him. We look forward to working together and welcome him to our Board. This is an important period for our agency where we wish to continue the growth of our communications services across sectors including agriculture, animal welfare, food and retail.”
Professor Tim Morris said: “I am excited about working with a leading communications agency at such an important stage of their growth. I have known and worked with PLMR’s Founder Kevin Craig for over a decade across a variety of important campaigns including new legislation to protect people from animal rights extremists, promoting life sciences and explaining the commitment to animal welfare from across several industry sectors. I have always been impressed by how much PLMR puts into delivering for its clients, admire their open and ethical approach and was impressed by the results they delivered for me when I was a client. I am delighted to now be joining their Board, to bring expertise in animal health and welfare, food and feed safety and audit, as well as in wider public affairs, so to contribute to continued success and delivery by the company."
