NorthPoint Strategy has continued its expansion into 2025 announcing two more hires to its senior team - Martin Callanan and Alex Royle.
Martin Callanan, a Conservative peer since 2014, held key ministerial roles over a decade of successive Conservative Governments, including Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, Minister of State for Exiting the EU and Transport Minister. During which, he piloted landmark legislation like the Energy Bill, the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023, and the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act 2023.
Martin was previously a Member of the European Parliament for 15 years during which he was Chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, the third largest political group in the European Parliament, from 2011 to 2014. He also had a seat in the political leadership of the European Parliament, the Conference of Presidents. Martin joins as a Senior Counsel.
Alex Royle brings cutting-edge expertise in digital assets and financial regulation – helping to cement NorthPoint Strategy’s position as the UK’s leading crypto and Web3 strategic communications firm in what will be a pivotal year for the sector.
With five years at the FCA and a role at ESMA managing MiFID II implementation, Alex has been at the forefront of regulatory evolution. His work with the UK's first FCA-authorised cryptoasset trading venue and his guidance to international governments on pioneering post-trade infrastructure cement his reputation as an industry leader. Alex joins as a Web3 Adviser, overseeing policy for the UK Cryptoasset Business Council.
