Lodestone Communications has become the first specialist public affairs agency to join the global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact through the B Corp certification.
Lodestone is a strategy and communications agency with a purpose, specialising in driving engagement through education, technology, health and energy and environment.
Lodestone scored an overall B Impact Score of 102.6 - over 22 points over the minimum score required to certify. The score is made up of the five impact area pillars, assessing positive impact across the environment, community, workers, customers, and governance.
Martha Dalton, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Lodestone, said “We’re delighted to join the B Corp community and be part of the network driving business as a force for good. We’re committed to driving value and impact for our clients in areas that support people, purpose, and planet.”
“Lodestone believes that its actions, not words that drive engagement, advocacy and change and have implemented a clear strategy to expand business in areas of society that make positive changes to people and planet, continuing to build on a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.”
Lodestone has set ambitious targets for the future across the three pillars of people, planet, and purpose.
People:
- At the time of certification, Lodestone generated over 60% of its revenue by supporting underserved communities and purpose-driven clients. The agency is set to hit its target of growing this to 80% of revenue by 2023;
- Lodestone has been a London Living Wage employer for almost 10 years and invests in its people through employees receiving a profit share as part of a bonus scheme, a rolling London Living Wage paid internship programme and an annual training budget to support personal and professional development.
Purpose:
- This year, Lodestone will launch their ‘Social Action Academy’ that will make up part of their pro-bono programme to support careers for people on low incomes and in underrepresented groups. Pro-bono work this year has also included the Khaled El-Mayet Ambulances for Ukraine campaign and supporting the Digital Poverty Alliance.
Planet:
- All B Corp certified businesses are assessed every three years to ensure the highest standards of social and environmental impact are met. Lodestone has a clear strategy to further reduce carbon emissions, water waste and single-use plastics and has set a target to be carbon positive by 2025.
