Interel, an independent global public affairs consultancy, has announced it is expanding its presence in the United States through a strategic alliance with the senior principals of four complementary firms in Washington, D.C. The development reflects Interel’s response to a growing demand from US and international clients for an integrated approach to public affairs and government relations.
Joining the Interel Washington Group are Hon Richard Pombo and William Sellery of Gavel Resources, Peter Peyser of Peyser Associates, Alex Slater of Clyde Group and Bill Drohan of Drohan Management Group. All four organisations will also join the Interel Global Partnership, a network of independent public affairs consultancies with offices in more than 60 countries around the world.
Interel’s new relationship builds on the firm’s own capabilities in Washington, led by US Director and Head of Global Practice Jason Jarrell as well as Director for EU and Latin America Benno van der Laan.
The Washington group aggregates experience of delivering federal and state level government affairs
for a broad client base including blue chips and professional societies, including Rio Tinto Minerals, Nissan, SAB Miller, the City of Seattle and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Fredrik Lofthagen,
CEO of Interel and Chairman of the Interel Global Partnership commented: “Public affairs as a professional service is changing. Our clients need an integrated approach across a broad array of stakeholders on policy and social issues. Our new partnerships in Washington represent an innovative and effective way to deliver public affairs services in an increasingly complex political landscape.”

Jason Jarrell said: “We could not be more thrilled to be working with these best-in-class partners. Together we provide unparalleled local support for our US and inbound clients, as well as outbound support for US companies and associations seeking vetted government relations and public affairs advice across the globe.”
