The CIPR PRide Awards took place in Scotland on Thursday 24 October 2013. The awards, which strive to recognise “outstanding public relations in the UK regions and nations”, included a Public Affairs Campaign category that was won by Prostate Cancer UK for their campaign ‘Scotland needs abiraterone’.
Judges were looking to honour a campaign “designed to inform or change the public policy agenda, or to influence the legislative process, using either lobbying or broader grassroots public affairs tactics” and felt that “the impact of the [Prostate Cancer UK] campaign was significant and achieved both the objectives set for the campaign. It was a clear winner in the category.”
‘Gold winners’ Prostate Cancer UK were further commended by the judges for their “well presented submission, setting out clear objectives, aligned with activity and outcomes”.
Weber Shandwick Scotland finished runners-up for their campaign ‘Bristow Helicopters – Winning UK Search and Rescue’. The consultancy picked up Gold in other categories ‘Best Use of Social Media’, ‘Not-For-Profit Campaign’ and the prestigious ‘Ouststanding Public Relations Consultancy’.
