Connect Communications has announced the launch of a new competition to find a pro bono client. The Campaign Award entitles the winner to a year’s worth of public affairs and campaigns support to a worthy cause.

Candidates should set out a campaign idea and show how it will make a tangible difference and improve people’s lives. Applications will be considered by an independent judging panel including public affairs professionals and Connect alumni. A shortlist of three candidates from charities and not-for-profit organisations will then be invited to give a short presentation to a Judging Panel of Connect board members.

Candidates will be considered on the following criteria:

  • The organisation’s values, mission and ideas;
  • The organisation’s appetite to use public affairs to make a tangible difference in improving people’s lives;
  • Clear and achievable outcomes that will deliver a public good;
  • A commitment to invest in a campaign or programme of activity;
  • Current resources for communications and public affairs support;
  • Buy-in across Connect’s award winning team for the cause.

The application deadline is 12th June and the shortlist of three candidate organisations will be made public later that month on 26th June. Finally, the winner of this inaugural competition will be announced at the Connect Summer Party on 15th July. The selected organisation can expect “the highest quality service” and will be “working with a full team of consultants from director level down”. The contract will run from September this year until September 2016.

Gill Morris said: “We are really excited to be offering an unique opportunity for an organisation to work with us as our first official pro-bono client. Our work with charities, campaigns and good causes is well known across the public affairs industry and in many ways this competition is about extending that work to a wider group of clients. We want to throw our doors open to campaigners who would really benefit from working with a high quality public affairs agency like Connect but don’t have the resources to do so.

We are going to put our heart and soul into this – working hard as a team and doing the best for a good cause has always been the Connect way. I’m thrilled that we are now expanding the opportunities for good causes to work with us.“

Organisations wishing to find out more or to register their interest should contact Connect at probono@connectpa.co.uk before 29th May.
