The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and Institute of Directors (IoD) have revealed the shortlist for the 2014 Director of the Year award.
The prestigious award, won last year by Emma Gilpin-Jacobs, celebrates the work of exceptional practitioners who “can demonstrate effectiveness, through examples, of managing and safeguarding the reputation of their organisation, either in times of crisis or a longer term reputational initiative”.
Shortlisted for this year’s award are:
- Liz Banks, Director of Communications – Recruitment and Employment Confederation
- David Hamilton, Head of Public Relations and Engagement – Action for Children
- Stuart Thompson, Public Affairs Consultant – Bircham Dyson Bell LLP
- Gill Webber, Executive Director Communication and Outreach – Royal Institute of British Architects
- Nick Wright, Director of Communications – BDO
The winner must exhibit “experience of advising the board, MD or Chairman on reputational risk or other aspects of reputation management that have a significant impact on their organisation and its stakeholders”.
CIPR President Elect, Sarah Pinch, commented on the nominations: “Following an exceptionally rigorous shortlisting process, my fellow judges and I are looking forward to interviewing the shortlisted candidates. The interviews will enable us to hear more about how these individuals are helping their organisations to put professional standards of communications and public relations at the heart of board decisions.”
The winner will be announced at the CIPR Excellence Awards on Tuesday 17 June at Old Billingsgate.
