CIM (the Chartered Institute of Marketing) has appointed ICG (Insight Consulting Group) and Kindred to deliver public affairs and PR support, following its recent rebrand and the adoption of a new communications strategy.

ICG will deliver a targeted public affairs programme to demonstrate the value marketing brings to UK plc. Kindred has been retained to run CIM’s press office and will deliver several campaigns throughout the year aimed at building the organisation’s position as the voice of the marketing community. Both agencies were appointed following competitive pitches.

CIM has been supporting, representing and developing marketers, teams, leaders and the profession as a whole for more than 100 years. Their shake-up includes a move towards content-led communications, involving the launch of a new digital portal, Exchange, which offers the latest thinking, ideas, opinions, interviews and case studies from across the globe to equip and inspire the marketing community.

Commenting on the appointment of the two agencies, Thomas Brown, Director of Strategy & Marketing at CIM, said: “Marketing has gone through a significant amount of change in recent years and CIM has changed to reflect this. We want to facilitate the sharing of intelligence within the marketing community and our vision is for marketing to be recognised for the pivotal role it plays in business. We were impressed by the strong proposals presented by Kindred and ICG and believe the agencies can help us to make this vision a reality.”

ICG’s Deputy Managing Director, James Tyrrell, said: “We’ll relish the opportunity to support CIM in achieving its vision for marketing. We believe our experience of raising the profiles of a range of clients amongst politicians and government officials makes us the ideal public affairs partner for CIM.”

Client Service Director, Sharon Bange, will lead the account at Kindred. She added: “It’s an exciting time for CIM and we’re delighted to be part of it. CIM brings together an impressive base of knowledge and insight and we’re looking forward to sharing this with the marketing community and beyond.”
