Carnegie UK has appointed a new lead for their communications activity.
Stuart Mackinnon has joined the foundation from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in Scotland, where he was most recently head of communications and public affairs.
Carnegie UK advocates for decision-makers to prioritise collective wellbeing. The Dunfermline-based organisation has led calls for policymakers to adopt additional metrics beyond gross domestic product when measuring social progress. They recently published influential research which looked at faith in democracy in England.
Sarah Davidson, Carnegie UK’s chief executive, said “Stuart will bolster Carnegie UK’s capacity to make the case for change. Working in partnership with colleagues and trustees, Stuart will help us achieve our ambitions to become more influential and persuasive. He brings valuable skills, knowledge and perspective that complement the qualities of our existing team.”
For over ten years at FSB, Mr Mackinnon campaigned for smaller businesses and the self-employed in Scotland. His experience includes working with media, government and elected members. In the new head of communications post, Mr Mackinnon will join Carnegie UK’s management team.
Stuart Mackinnon said “Carnegie UK is a unique organisation with a proud history. I’m looking forward to bringing my understanding of local businesses and economies to an organisation that already boasts a wealth of talent.
“I feel privileged to take on this role when Carnegie UK’s key wellbeing mission - everyone having what they need to live well - is more relevant and powerful than ever.”
