Westminster Wanderers FC are an established and successful men’s amateur Sunday league football club. We are looking to recruit new players for our four teams as we push for success in the forthcoming season. We welcome players from 16 years upwards.
We are now in our 25th year and have recruited from Parliament, the civil service and journalist covering Westminster over that period. Our players have included Downing Street advisors, public affairs specialists, lobby journalist, and civil servants from Cabinet Office, foreign office and the Department of Education.
We are affiliated to the London FA and play in the Southern Sunday Football League which operates across Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth and Merton. The Club is an England Football Accredited Club.
We will be offering players the opportunity to join our pre-season training sessions. These sessions will generally take place in Battersea Park on Thursday night.
This year we will have four teams in league and cup competitions. This is our 25th season we expect to be playing in then First, Third, Fifth and Sixth divisions of the Southern Sunday League.
Our home ground is the Griffin Sports Ground in Dulwich. The club also has a strong social programme and an annual tour which has taken us to Portugal, Belfast and Latvia in recent years. This year we have just returned from Vienna and Bratislava when we played the Slovakian Parliament and a UN team.
We also run a weekly social eight aside match which takes place at Pimlico Academy. We welcome players who want casual football, and a good quality venue, close to Parliament.
