I have a voice, a social enterprise aiming to empower young people to engage with politics, has announced the political insight and strategic communications agency, GK Strategy, as its founding partner.
Through its Youth Ambassador programme, I have a voice has engaged a vibrant and diverse pool of young people, who are increasingly enthusiastic about the PR and public affairs profession.
GK Strategy will participate in I have a voice’s work experience programme and schools outreach, as well as providing pro-bono media and creative support.
I have a voice is looking to partner with other Public Relations and Public Afairs agencies to grow its corporate sponsorship programme. This will help to build a network of opportunities for young people, particularly those young people who are currently under-represented in the industry.
Nearly all of I have a voice’s Ambassadors are female and around 40% are from BAME backgrounds. They are all from non-fee-paying schools and located in different areas of the country.
Robin Grainger, Co-founder and CEO of GK Strategy, said “We’re thrilled to be supporting I have a voice by becoming a founding partner. The Youth Ambassadors offer us a great opportunity to diversify our profession from the grassroots up. They’re already doing great advocacy work, such as proudly supporting people with disabilities to raise their voices. In addition, the campaigns they’re working on are tackling some of the biggest policy challenges we face - climate change, racial injustice and social inequality.”
Rebecca Deegan, Founder & Director I have a voice, said “I have a voice takes professionals’ practical knowledge of how politics works and the power of good communication to the classroom. We’re helping young people campaign on the issues that matter to them and already having lots of success. We’re excited to partner with GK Strategy, and hopefully others in the industry through our corporate sponsorship programme, to encourage these enthusiastic and impressive young people to join our profession.”
