Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

A comprehensive introduction to public affairs strategy and the elements that comprise a successful long-term strategy or short-medium term campaign. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to be more proactive, organised and reflective when it comes to doing public affairs.

You'll finish the day with a strong start to a public affairs plan which can be further developed in your own time.

Small group - maximum six participants for an effective learning experience.

  • What makes good public affairs objectives and how to develop your own;
  • How to identify your audience and map stakeholders;
  • How to shape your arguments;
  • How to craft and hone key messages;
  • How to choose the most effective tools, tactics and channels;
  • How to monitor and evaluate public affairs campaigns.

Training methods used:

  • Presentation, including audio/video;
  • Quiz;
  • Group discussion;
  • Individual, pairs and small group exercises using breakout rooms;
  • There will also be the opportunity to book free, one-to-one 15-minute advice slots with the trainer.

Please note:

  • All training is developed and delivered by Carys Davis, owner and director of The Other Place;
  • There is no VAT charged;
  • All courses are currently running on Zoom, and details will be provided following booking;
  • Course runs 10am - 4.30pm with two refreshment breaks and a lunch break;
  • Course requires a minimum of two participants. Maximum will be six participants;
  • Course Handbook will be provided by email prior to the start of the course.
