The successful candidate will work for our London office as part of a small team of researchers who are responsible for compiling and analysing intelligence on a wide variety of regulatory policy topics (UK and worldwide) for distribution to senior staff and/or the highest level at our roster of blue-chip clients. Post holders will work closely with EUK’s senior staff, who use the material prepared by the research team as the basis for advising clients on their regulatory strategies.
Candidates should have demonstrable experience in public affairs, policy development, political research, or similar. They must be able to work from our London office (the office is WFH on Fridays, plus staff have an additional flexible WFH allowance).
We are recruiting for a set of client responsibilities which include Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) regulatory issues. Experience in ESG policy would therefore be an advantage.
Additionally, candidates should have:
- A strong academic record;
- Experience of working in a fast-moving, deadline-driven office;
- Experience of preparing succinct but thorough briefings on complex issues;
- A very high standard of written English;
- Demonstrable attention to detail and confidence with scientific or economic issues;
- Commercial awareness and understanding of how policy developments could impact clients;
- Excellent understanding of regulatory and legislative processes in the UK and/or abroad;
- Enthusiasm to take on challenging work and an enquiring mind;
- Presentation skills;
- Good time management skills;
- Please indicate any foreign language skills, including ability level. These are not a pre-requisite.
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Detailed tracking of specific regulatory issues, their analysis and interpretation;
- Briefing senior staff with regular and succinct updates;
- Monitoring output from national governments and multi-national organisations;
- Leading on compiling designated weekly, monthly or quarterly reports;
- Quality control of reports and other output produced by members of the team;
- Leading on ad hoc research, under direction of senior staff, and helping to guide contributions from other team members;
- Representing the company externally.
