Do you want to shape the future of healthcare in Wales? The Royal College of Physicians is looking for a talented and proactive public affairs and policy adviser to lead our influencing work in Wales.
The senior public affairs and policy adviser will make sure the voice of hospital doctors is heard at the highest level in Wales. You will forge excellent links across National Assembly for Wales, Welsh Government and health service in Wales, and lead our preparation for the National Assembly election in 2016. You will work closely with our vice-president for Wales and network of doctors to promote and develop the RCP’s position on key challenges facing the health service in Wales - from tackling obesity to improving patient care.
As an experienced policy or public affairs professional, you will have excellent judgement and a thorough understanding of policy-making processes in Wales. You will be used to representing your organisation at senior meetings, and comfortable handling press enquiries and producing ‘lines to take’ on complex issues. Knowledge of the health service in Wales will be an advantage, but is not essential; we are more interested in your first-rate communication and analytical skills and track record of successful influencing.
This post is based in Cardiff Bay with frequent travel, particularly to our London office. The senior public affairs and policy adviser will work closely with the policy, PR and public affairs teams based in London.
In return, excellent benefits are offered, which include generous leave, a first class pension scheme and much more.
The Royal College of Physicians provides a wide range of services to our 30,000 members and fellows. We also lead medical debate, work to improve the quality of care for patients, and advise government and other decision-makers on behalf of our members.
