Established in January 2002, PubAffairs is the premier network and leading resource for the public affairs, government relations, policy and communications industry.

The PubAffairs network numbers over 4,000 members and is free to join. PubAffairs operates a general e-Newsletter, as well as a number of other specific group e-Newsletters which are also available to join by completing our registration form.

The PubAffairs e-Newsletters are used to keep members informed about upcoming PubAffairs events and networking opportunities, job vacancies, public affairs news, training courses, stakeholder events, publications, discount offers and other pieces of useful information related to the public affairs and communications industry.

Join the Network

We have an opportunity for an intern to support our public affairs activity.

Your tasks will include:

  • Monitoring relevant activity from external organisations of interest to the RPS;
  • Providing initial research on salient points for consultation documents;
  • Monitoring developments in the new healthcare environment, specifically: NHS structure updates – Sifting through websites such as the NHS network to identify key information that may be useful for pharmacists to know;
  • Monitor Parliamentary activity relating to pharmacy or healthcare;
  • Maintaining and developing the policy repository.

During your internship you will:

  • Learn about public affairs in a professional environment;
  • Work in a small friendly team and liaise with colleagues across the organisation;
  • Gain an understanding of policy creation through to its effective use via public affairs activity;
  • Build skills and confidence in working in a friendly environment;
  • Ensure parliamentary and healthcare intelligence is delivered to key individuals.

The right candidate will have:

  • A degree in politics or public policy;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Willingness to learn and have a positive attitude, be enthusiastic, self-motivated and work as a team player;
  • Ability to analyse information and understand the implications from a policy and public affairs perspective

The position is based in the Society’s Headquarters: 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN.
