A leading organisation in the financial services sector is currently seeking a Policy Manager (Financial Services) with an immediate start as an interim or on a permanent basis.

With a focus on both UK and EU policy making, the Policy Manager will be responsible for developing policy positions on a broad range of financial services policy and regulatory concerns.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the delivery of the organisation's senior stakeholder engagement programme;
  • Work to deliver the International Regulatory Strategy Committee and Public Affairs Committee work streams;
  • Arrange and supporting high-level delegations to other Member States and EU institutions;
  • Support the programme of bilateral industry dialogue, arranging delegations, providing secretariat functions and co-ordinating occasional research papers;
  • Produce influential policy reports and engage with policymakers to achieve implementation;
  • Identifying appropriate ministers, UK and EU parliamentarians, officials and opinion formers for the organisation to engage with, securing and servicing meetings. These may take the form of bilateral meetings, policymaker roundtables, seminars or other member events;
  • Drafting responses to relevant policy consultations;
  • Writing speeches for Directors and Chairmen as required, in consultation with colleagues.

Required knowledge, skills & experience

  • Understanding of, and interest in, financial markets, products, economics and public policy;
  • A demonstrable background in policy development and influencing within the financial services industry gained in government/ regulator/ trade association/ financial institution/ think tank etc.;
  • Experience of and/or interest in Government, UK and European policymaking institutions, key industry bodies, think tanks and financial sector organisations;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with a track record of working with senior stakeholders;
  • Experience of developing high-level relationships with policy makers/ regulators/ industry representatives etc.;
  • Willingness to travel overseas.
