Purpose-led strategy and communications agency Lodestone has appointed Tom King as a Director. Lodestone has brought King on board to provide senior counsel to its growing client list, strengthen the firm’s organisational capacity, and expand its offer to a wider set of corporate, civil society and investment clients.
King is an award-winning political adviser with 14 years' experience advising a wide range of investor, corporate, charity and government clients on public policy and regulation, government affairs, M&A and strategic communications. He began his career as a parliamentary researcher and speechwriter, and remains active in British and European liberal politics, global anti-corruption and information policy.
In previous consultancy roles, King helped to establish political risk analysis as a key service for dealmakers across the globe, working on over 300 deals worth a collective $30bn over the past decade and culminating in his team’s award for Political Due Diligence at the Private Equity Awards 2022. He regularly leads strategic work to guide narratives and business planning on client accounts, and provides senior counsel to C-suite executives facing scrutiny around sensitive acquisitions, national security and critical infrastructure. Key industries and sectors King covers in detail include health, education, financial services, trade, energy, business services and TMT.
Martha Dalton, Managing Director and co-founder of Lodestone said “We are delighted to welcome Tom to the team as part of our ambitious plans to grow our purpose-led advisory practice. The political landscape continues to be uncertain and we look forward to building on our political insight and risk management offering for clients, alongside our advocacy and action services.”
Tom King said “I am hugely excited to be joining a team that combines excellent service, dynamic growth and a real sense of purpose. I look forward to adding my experience to Lodestone’s existing strengths and helping to drive substantial change that benefits clients, communities and the wider world.”
Earlier this year, Lodestone became the first specialist public affairs agency to be B Corp certified, reflecting the company’s commitment to driving business as a force for good. The firm ranked 20th in PRWeek’s UK Top 150 Public Affairs agencies and is shortlisted at the 2022 PRWeek Public Affairs awards, following up on its 2021 win.
