DevoConnect's ‘Engaging with Metro Mayors’ training will give you a thorough understanding of the UK's new devolved institutions and practical advice on how to work with the new Metro Mayors.

Why should you attend?

Politics in the UK is changing. With 19 million people across the county now benefiting from having a city-region Mayor and a minority government preoccupied with a Brexit-dominated agenda, it is time for public affairs and communications professionals to look beyond Westminster. When political direction and purpose is lacking nationally, devolution presents a new opportunity to rethink your approach and do public affairs differently.

Find out:

  • WHERE Metro Mayors fit in with local government and Westminster;
  • HOW to engage with Metro Mayors and Combined Authorities;
  • WHO are the key players in the devolved regions;
  • WHAT is next for devolution and how should your organisation engage in the future.

Training experts

Our expert trainers Gill Morris FCIPR FPRCA and Joseph Dancey are at the forefront of the devolution agenda and will guide you through the new, devolving political landscape.

Gill Morris FCIPR FPRCA has spent her career redefining public affairs. Her experience and passion for both politics and the public affairs industry have made her one of the most well-known figures in Westminster. The daughter of Lord Morris of Manchester, she has a wealth of experience including establishing the Regional Policy Forum, supporting the English Region’s Network and securing clients from across the private and public sector.

Joseph Dancey is a former government special adviser, he is experienced working on a cross-party basis across parliament for Baroness Valerie Amos and Lord Peter Mandelson. As head of Lord Sebastian Coe’s office at the London 2012 Olympic Organising Committee, Joseph led the Chairman’s speechwriting, briefing, stakeholder liaison and prioritisation of the nations and regions programme.
